Mungo Lodge was first built by a private investor who had a dream to share the majesty and mystery of
Mungo National Park.
Mungo Lodge is currently 100% owned by Indigenous Business Australia which purchased the property in October 2003, in recognition of the significance of the National Park with its
World heritage listing, Indigenous heritage, archaeological
values & natural landscapes.
IBA recently invested in a major redevelopment of the Lodge &
the experience offered & has
re-opened a 4 star property
offering guests luxury in an outback setting.
Mungo Lodge now offers 17 Australian style accommodation rooms, that complement the environment and enhance the 3
key guest experiences of Food & Wine, Culture & Environment.
Many of the Lodge initiatives are based on reducing carbon footprint through a commitment to eco tourism (ecologically sustainable tourism) and geo tourism (enhancing the geographical character
of a place—its environment, culture, aesthetics, heritage, and the well-being of its residents).
In early 2009 Mungo Lodge was accredited with a AAA tourism 4 star rating. The team at Mungo Lodge recognize & appreciate the beauty & significance our ‘hidden wonder down under’ & look forward to sharing the Mungo Story;’ with our guests. |
