Mungo Lodge operates as an eco-friendly resort with a significant reliance on renewable energy. We prioritize our environmental footprint in the National Park by managing our power supply with care.
We utilize gas-fired generators as backup when the limited 240v renewable supply cannot keep up with demand. During these transition periods, you may notice a brief interruption to power as the systems switch over. We kindly ask guests to assist our conservation efforts by keeping electrical appliance and air conditioning use to a minimum.
Water is the most precious resource in the outback. At Mungo Lodge, we harvest water from every available drop of rainfall and even morning dew via our specialized "trap" catchment system.
This harvested water is then purified and processed using advanced UV light technology before being stored safely in our holding tanks. To ensure a reliable supply for all, we kindly ask you to keep showers and general water use to an absolute minimum.
Mungo Lodge utilizes the advanced Ozzi Kleen aerated wastewater treatment system. This system relies on a delicate balance of healthy micro-organisms to process waste efficiently and safely for the environment.
To protect these vital micro-organisms, we ask guests to ensure that no harmful items—such as food scraps, fats, chemicals, or plastics—are discharged down sinks or toilets. Proper management ensures the system continues to work effectively for everyone while protecting the local ecosystem.
