What is the current road condition?

Councils websites state that any person driving on closed roads may be subject to fines and charges to rectify damages caused to the roads.

Can I get to Mungo Lodge in a 2-wheel drive vehicle?

Yes you can access Mungo Lodge and National Park in a 2 wheel drive vehicle. As you will be travelling to a remote location with no mobile phone service, please ensure that you follow safe traveling practice (ie: full tank of petrol, spare tyre, drinking water in vehicle)

When is the best time to visit?

How long should we stay?

To truly discover Mungo National Park, undoubtedly one of Australia’s best kept secrets, we recommend a 2 night stay.

What to wear in the outback?

Wear comfortable casual clothes at Mungo Lodge. We advise bringing comfortable walking shoes, a wide brimmed hat, sunscreen and insect repellent. Nights can be very cold, so please make sure you bring a warm jumper or jacket.

Are pets allowed?

Mungo Lodge does not allow pets in any of the cabins, however pets are welcome in our campsite as long as they are accompanied at all times and comply with National Parks NSW pets in parks policy

Where is the nearest petrol station?

Pooncarrie via the Top Hut road, 87km 1 hour or Buronga via the Arumpo Rd, 108km 1.5 hours

Facilities

Is there mobile phone coverage?

There is currently only Telstra mobile phone service in the Mungo area.

Is there WIFI?

There is currently no internet service provided to guests at Mungo Lodge.

Is there a restaurant or catering?

The Mungo Lodge Licensed Bar and Bistro is open 7 days a week for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Café is open throughout the day for hot and cold drinks and food from our café menu.
Breakfast 7 days between 8.00am and 10.00am
Lunch between 12.00pm and 2.00pm
Dinner between 6.00pm and 8.30pm

A 10% public holiday surchage applies.

Please note: Due to Mungo Lodge’s remote location, we ask that where possible, notice of any special dietary requirements be provided prior to arrival.

Is there a mini bar in the cabin?

No mini Bar provided in cabins, however The Mungo Lodge restaurant is fully licensed.

Is there camping at Mungo Lodge?

Mungo Lodge has unpowered campsites with an amenities block that has hot showers, toilets, a small kitchen and an undercover barbeque area. Adults $29 per night, children aged 5-15 $14.50 per night, children under 5 free.

Are you allowed to have a camp fire?

As long as NSW fire regulations are followed, there are fire drums / pits around the Mungo Lodge property for your use. You have the option to BYO fire wood or it is for sale from our reception office.

Is Mungo Lodge eco-certified?

As part of our commitment to eco-tourism and our remote location, Mungo lodge is focused on saving water and energy. We ask all guests to help us protect our environment. We have recently been eco-certified with the Australian Eco Tourism Certificate.
